Why Magic Makers?
Hub School 21 share with Magic Makers the same ambition to reinvent school and develop children's desire to learn. To this end, both schools promote creativity and cooperation through game activities in a caring environment.
Moreover, Magic Makers new site is located in Vincennes, with 4 equipped rooms and its garden. Starting our school there is just perfect!
For those who doesn't know Magic Makers yet...
It is a young French started created in June 2014 by Claude Terosier, incubated at Paris Pionnières. Specialized in programming teaching, she is the first in France to open creative programming workshops for children. 3 kinds of workshops exist: weekly workshops, vacation workshops and event workshops. Magic Makers has developed its own method along with specialized trainers and innovative tools to allow children to appropriate programming language from the age of 6.
Magic Makers participates also in middle schools actions dedicated to students with learning difficulties. Through the Class'Code project in partnership with Inria and openClassroom, it also proposes trainings and programming lessons to teachers, as part of the "Investing for the Future" program, whose operator is Caisse des Dépôts. Today, Magic Makers is sponsored by the Raise Foundation.

About Hub School Vincennes...
Hub School 21 in Vincennes is the first school of the Hub School 21 innovative schools network. We offer new ways of learning to bring out and value the best of everyone. Hub School 21 uses the “learning by doing” and “flipped class” active pedagogies to enable the children to be authors and actors of their learning path, in relation to the world around them and relaying on all potentials.
We pay special attention to self-development (self-knowledge, handling emotions, relationship to others…) and sustainable development.
We open up academic subjects, spaces, time and ages in an inclusive, collaborative and constructivist approach.
The use of new technologies and training in relevant digital uses are included in timetable, serving the projects carried out.
To foster the success and wellbeing of children, we create an atmosphere conducive to learning. Therefore, we decompartmentalize spaces, time and school subjects with particular emphasis on autonomy, inclusion, confidence and empowerment. To this end, we provide learning situations that are at once playful, complex and motivating, in relation to the environment.
We also use active pedagogies which include project-based learning, problem solving, case studies, experimentation and research based learning. Experience, creativity, enquiry are at the center of the learning process. We also apply the Design Thinking approach to address issues and learn. This cooperative and reflexive approach includes 4 stages: to imagine, to search, to propose, to disseminate.
The child is a researcher who learns by asking questions and by working with his peers. He is actor and author of his curriculum.
Trial and error are support points to go on. The realization of “masterpieces” (articles, artistic productions, videos…) allows to value the child’s work, to make sense of learning, and to increase motivation.
Adults ensure respect for the framework, set academic targets with the children, help in building knowledge, make possible the construction and deepening of the concepts approached. The adult is a mentor for the child, at once teacher, guide, coach and tutor. He has a constructive view of progress and, thanks to regular feed-back, allows everyone’s success.
The structuring of time and activities in the school was designed to allow time for inclusion in the group, sharing of experiences, exchange of ideas and decision-making regarding the collective. The goal is for everyone to feel welcomed and listened to.
We follow the national curriculum and have the same standards by validating the expected competencies online. Teachers are present to answer the pupils’ questions.
The internet, social networks, e-learning platforms, robotics, coding allow children to learn at their own pace by being proactive and responsible in a collaborative way.
At Hub School Vincennes, we also attach great importance to inside and outdoor sports to foster well-being, connection to the body, links with others and emotional management.
